LONG BRANCH, NJ. – A Bloomfield, New Jersey man pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a toddler Monmouth County District Attorney officials said.
Jaime Mauricio Leon, 34, of Bloomfield, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to first-degree sexual assault and third-degree possession of child pornography. Authorities said that the incident occured in Long Branch, New Jersey on June 15th and 16th of 2017. A passerby saw Leon, and Olga M. Diaz, 32, performing sex acts on the sleeping toddler through a window, authorities said.
The witness immediately reported the incident to the Long Branch Police Department. It is believed that Diaz knew the child and that the pair planned the sexual assault on the child. Both Leon and Diaz possessed of child pornography when arrested.
Leon faces 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole prior to the full sentence being served. He returns to court for sentencing on August 2, 2019. In addition, Leon will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Diaz has not yet been sentenced for her charges, which include: five counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts each of child endangerment, permitting a child to engage in child pornography, manufacturing child pornography, possession of child pornography, intending to distribute child pornography and distributing child pornography.
