Newberry Springs Woman Arrested for the Shooting Death of Her Husband

NEWBERRY SPRINGS – The San Bernardino County Homicide Detail is investigating the death of a 53-year-old Newberry Springs man. On Thursday at around 4:05 p.m. deputies from the Barstow station responded to the shooting in the 30000 block of Harvard Road, officials said.

When they arrived they found 54-year-old Newberry Springs resident, June Lim Popiolek in front of the home. They then located 53-year-old Newberry Springs resident, David Jay Popiolek, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced David dead at the scene.

June Popiolek  was arrested for the murder of David Jay Popiolek. She was subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center. She is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday afternoon.  San Bernardino County spokeswoman, Jodi Miller confirmed to a 24/7 Headline News reporter on Sunday morning that the victim and suspect were husband and wife.
