HESPERIA – The 43-year-old owner of Team Art Collective Tattoo in the City of Hesperia was arrested for a late May sexual assault of a young woman.
On Thursday, June 1, 2017, at around 9:48 a.m. deputies from the Hesperia Station were dispatched to a call for service regarding a sexual assault that allegedly occurred the previous day. The 19-year-old female told authorities that she was sexually assaulted while receiving a tattoo from the suspect, who is the owner of the tattoo shop located at 14575 Bear Valley Road.
The case was turned over to the Hesperia Detective Bureau for investigation, leading to a search warrant being served at the suspect, identified as Henry Camarena’s tattoo business, Team Art Collective Tattoo. During the search detectives found evidence supporting the victim’s statements and based on both the statements and evidence, an arrest warrant was obtained for Camarena.
Camarena was believed to be out of the area and was learned to be staying in Baldwin Park. Detectives and the Hesperia Gang Team located Camarena on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Baldwin Park home in the 15200 block of Ramona Boulevard and booked him into the West Valley Detention Center for Rape of a Drugged or Unconscious Victim. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Based on the circumstances surrounding this sexual assault, it is possible that there are additional victims. Several past customers said that Camarena offered free tattoos, but required late night appointments when doing so. Anyone who has information regarding Henry Camarena, or this investigation, is asked to contact the Hesperia Station, Detective Laduke at (760)947-1500, or to remain anonymous contact WeTip at 800-78-CRIME or www.wetip.com.
