RIVERSIDE – A parolee was arrested and was booked into jail for numerous charges early Wednesday morning. At around 1:30 a.m. Riverside police were patrolling the area when an officer drove through the parking lot of the Motel 6 located in the 3600 block of La Sierra Avenue. A male subject quickly walked away from a vehicle that was missing the front license plate officials said.
The officers made contact with the subject, later identified as Robert Lopez, a local 28-year-old transient. Lopez was found to have an outstanding warrant and was found to be in possession of the vehicle that was reported stolen from the City of Lake Elsinore. Also located in the possession of Lopez was credit cards, identification cards, and checks that did not belong to Lopez and methamphetamine, that he told authorities he had for the purpose of sale.
Lopez was booked into jail for auto theft, identity theft, drug sales, parole violation, and failing to register as a sex offender.
