JURUPA VALLEY-A male parolee was shot and killed after a failed attempt to make an arrest.
On Thursday, March 8, 2018, at around 5:35 p.m., Officers with the Riverside Police Department were conducting a search on the 9900 block of Willowbrook Road, in the city of Jurupa Valley for a parolee in connection with an assault and deadly weapon investigation. The search stemmed from a shooting on the 4200 block of Langston Street in the city of Riverside at around 6:30 a.m. on August 26, 2017.
The parolee was alleged to have shot at his ex-girlfriend after an argument. The ex-girlfriend was not injured from the shooting. When investigators learned of the incident they obtained a parole violation warrant and have been actively searching for the suspect.
Yesterday investigators located the suspect and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The parolee succumbed to his injuries after failed life-saving measures were performed. No other injuries to citizens or officers were reported. The shooting is currently being investigated by the Riverside County Sheriff Department’s Central Homicide Unit. The identity of the suspect is currently being withheld, due to the ongoing investigation. The officers who were involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave per Riverside Police Department policy.
