VICTORVILLE – A 39-year-old man was hit by a vehicle in the westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road near Seventh Avenue on Thursday morning.
At around 6:09 a.m. Victorville station deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the vehicle versus pedestrian collision. The pedestrian was transported to Desert Valley Hospital in preparation to be airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital to be treated for head injuries sustained as a result of the collision.
Through investigation, deputies learned that the 32-year-old male driver was driving northbound on Bear Valley Road when the pedestrian, dressed in dark clothing attempted to cross Bear Valley Road outside of the crosswalk area. The driver was unable to stop his Nissan pickup truck and hit the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle was not injured as a result of the collision.
The Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. The westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road are closed at Seventh Avenue, the closure is expected to remain until approximately 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
