REDLANDS, Calif. – A 15-year-old Redlands East Valley High School student was arrested on Thursday afternoon for bringing a gun to school.
At around 12:00 p.m., the school resource officer was alerted that there was an armed student on campus. Through investigation, it was learned that the male suspect brought his stepfather’s gun on campus in his backpack and showed it to his friend. The student reported the incident and the suspect was detained. A firearm and magazine with ammunition were found in his backpack and seized.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department assumed the investigation. A search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence and recovered another firearm from the home which belonged to the suspect’s step-father. The suspect was arrested for a felony, PC 626.9(b)- Possession of a Firearm on a School Campus and he was booked at the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no evidence of an immediate threat on campus.
