YUCAIPA – A Desert Hot Springs woman and a Cathedral City man were arrested for burglaries in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
On Wednesday, February 21, 2017, Yucaipa Station deputies were dispatched to a jewelry store in the 34400 block of Yucaipa Boulevard in the City of Yucaipa for the report of a burglary. Deputies learned that a male suspect used a hammer to shatter the glass front door to gain entry into the business during the night. Over $1000 worth of jewelry was stolen before the suspect left the scene. DNA evidence collected at the scene linked 29-year-old German Vargas to the burglary.
Vargas was located in Indio on Monday, March 13, 2017, and was arrested for burglary. Authorities learned that Vargas was responsible for other commercial burglaries in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. On Thursday, March 16, 2017, detectives served search warrants at Vargas’ home in Cathedral City and his wife, Griselda Trani’s home in Desert Hot Springs. Additional evidence and illicit drugs were located during the search.
Trani was arrested for identity theft and child endangerment and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Vargas is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail and Trani is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. .
Detectives are releasing photos of both suspects as they believe they may have been involved in other burglaries throughout the area.
