CORONA – The City of Corona is offering a way to properly dispose of hazardous waste this weekend. These items are items that should not be placed in your regular trash receptacle, down storm drains, or onto the ground. Irresponsible disposal of this waste can cause contamination to our air, water, and even our food supply.
The City of Corona, along with the Riverside County Waste Management will be hosting the household hazardous waste recycling event on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 9 am to 2 pm at the City Hall parking lot, located at 400 South Vicentia Avenue. The event is open to Corona and all other Riverside County residents.
All residents will be allowed to bring up to 15 gallons of a hazardous liquid waste, or a total of 125 pounds per car, per trip. Multiple trips will be allowed. All residents are asked to keep original labels on the containers and the containers should be marked and secured in order to prevent leaks. Materials should never be mixed and containers holding gasoline will not be returned. A sturdy box should be used to transport the materials in the vehicle trunk. Items that will be collected can include household hazardous waste such as latex paints, pesticides, oils, solvents, cleansers, antifreeze, used oil and filters, aerosol cans, chlorine, BBQ propane tanks, household and automotive batteries, Sharps (Sharps must be in sealed hard plastic containers. No loose sharps.), fluorescent tubes and many other HHW items. E-waste can also be disposed of, these items include monitors, computers, televisions, and other electronic items.
Business or non-profit waste, explosives/ammunition, medical waste, waste in 55-gallon drums, radioactive materials, appliances and tires will not be accepted. This event will be canceled in the presence of rain and/or excessive winds.
