RIVERSIDE, Ca. – A Riverside man was arrested for the stabbing that led to the death of a man in Riverside on Saturday afternoon, police said.
At around 1:20 p.m. police responded to the 4200 block of Park Avenue for reported of an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from apparent stab wounds. They rushed him to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. Homicide detectives assumed the investigation. The Riverside coroner will determine the identity of the deceased man and will release his identity at a later time.
Through investigation it was learned that the two were involved in a verbal altercation when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times. Later in the day detectives located the suspect a few blocks from the incident and took him into. Armando Meza, 59, of Riverside, was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for Murder. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
This investigation is still ongoing and there are no further details to release at this time.
