RIVERSIDE – One of two home invasion robbery suspects was arrested Thursday afternoon. At around 4:25 p.m. a family was inside their home in the 7800 block of Railroad Avenue when they noticed suspects attempting to break into their home. The suspects, one of whom was armed with a crowbar came in through the garage, The victims locked the door to the garage, but the suspects attempted to force the door open. The residents ran out the front door of their home and called 911.
By the time the officers arrived at the scene, the two suspects fled the house. One of the responding detectives noticed a man who matched the suspect’s description walking down the street of the incident. The detective attempted to make contact with the possible suspect, and he fled on foot. Witnesses told authorities that the subject ran into a nearby residence.
“Officers surrounded the house and called for the occupants to come out,” Riverside Police officials said. “The people inside did exit the house and the subject who fled tried to blend in with the people and act as if he was not involved.” The suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Riverside transient Anthony Flores Garcia was positively identified by the victims. Garcia was arrested for home invasion robbery, trespassing and obstructing police.
