RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A 55-year-old Riverside man was arrested for recent commercial dumpster and structure fires.
The City of Riverside Fire officials said that over the past two months there were multiple suspicious fires in the north/east end of Riverside. The City of Riverside Fire Departments Fire and Arson Investigations Unit began searching for the suspect who started the fires. Michael Zingarelli was named as the suspect and an arrest warrant was obtained.
While en route to Zingarelli’s home, the Fire/Arson investigations noticed a vehicle in question parked in a dry bush on the 15 freeway. They found Zingarelli inside the vehicle with a small dog and numerous fuel cans in his possession. Zingarelli was taken into custody and was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, for four counts of arson. It is unknown if Zingarelli was involved with any other fire at this time. The small dog in his possession was not harmed and was delivered to one of Zingarelli’s family member.
The City of Riverside Fire Department encourages all citizens to report any and all information related to the cause of fires. Please call 1(800) 47-ARSON or www.wetip.com
