RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A 24-year-old attempted murder suspect from Riverside was arrested on Monday night.
Authorities said that at around 9:10 p.m. patrol officers were stopped at a local gas station at Main and Russell Streets in the Northside neighborhood of Riverside when they noticed a familiar man sitting in a vehicle. The man in the vehicle was wanted for a recent shooting in the 1700 block of Enterprise Drive on Friday, January 25, 2019, at around 10:00 p.m.where a victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body.
Both officers approached the suspect and attempted to remove him from the car. As they approached, they noticed a handgun sitting between his legs. “One of the officers grabbed the firearm and the suspect began to struggle with them,” Riverside Police officials said. “A Taser was deployed which subdued the suspect, who was then taken into custody.”Daniel Ramos Calderon was arrested and taken to a local hospital for medical clearance. He was booked into jail for attempted murder, weapons violations, and resisting arrest using violence. A check of the firearm revealed it was loaded and reported stolen.
