RIVERSIDE – A 34-year-old restaurant employee was arrested for the sexual assault of a young child Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officials said. At around 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6th officers responded a restaurant in the 1700 block of University Avenue for the report of a female child who was sexually assaulted while at the restaurant.
During the victim’s visit to the restaurant with her mother, she went to the bathroom. A short time later the victim’s mother went inside to check on her and found the employee (suspect) later identified as Avimael Lopez inside the same bathroom.
The Detectives from the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit learned that the suspect sexually assaulted the juvenile when the two were inside of the bathroom. Lopez was booked into the Riverside County Jail for lewd acts upon a child under 10 years old.
