RIVERSIDE – Homicide investigators are investigating a shooting that killed one woman and left a man in critical condition.
On Saturday, June 30, 2018, at around 7:08 p.m. Riverside Police and emergency medical personnel responded to a family event at the Elks Lodge located at 6166 Brockton Avenue. When they arrived they learned that during the large gathering, there was a physical altercation and shooting. During the investigation, a Hispanic female arrived at the Riverside Community Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Just after her arrival, a Hispanic male gunshot wound victim also arrived at the hospital. Both the male and female victims required emergency surgery. The female died as a result of her injuries. Just after the original shooting call, Riverside Police began receiving calls about a hit and run traffic collision near Jurupa Avenue and Fremont Street. A Hispanic man in the area was detained and officers learned that he was the same suspect involved in the earlier Elks Lodge shooting.
