RIVERSIDE – A 36-year-old Riverside transient was arrested for the Sunday morning stabbing at a Metrolink Station.
On Sunday, September 23, 2018, at around 8:14 a.m. police responded to the downtown Riverside Metrolink station located at 4066 Vine Street for the report of a stabbing. When they arrived, along with paramedics the found the victim who was treated and transported to a local hospital where the victim remains in critical but stable condition. Authorities learned that the suspect, later identified as Raymond Bonner, approached the victim. There was a verbal exchange, and the suspect armed with a knife, stabbed the victim in the neck. The suspect fled on foot north along the railroad tracks. An area search which included the use of a bloodhound was conducted, but the suspect was not immediately located.
Police obtained video surveillance which captured the suspect at the Metrolink station. The images were released to the public. Several tips were received as a result of the release. Information was developed leading to the suspect identity and location. A search warrant was obtained and with the help of the METRO Team (SWAT), the suspect was detained at around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018, in the 12100 block of Graham Street in Moreno Valley. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside for attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
