Robbery Suspect Chokes Woman in her Colony Apartment Home
VICTORVILLE – A 30-year-old male suspect went into the apartment home of a Victorville woman, assaulted her and left with cash from her purse Tuesday night. At around 10:40 p.m. deputies from the Victorville Station responded to the Colony Apartments located at 14450 El Evado Road in the City of Victorville.
The woman told deputies that she was inside of her unlocked apartment when the suspect, Samuel Jones of Victorville walked in. “She said the suspect approached her and began to choke her,” said Mara Rodriguez, Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman. “She struggled with him trying to push him out of the apartment. She stated that during the struggle he grabbed her purse and removed cash from inside the purse.”
Deputies arrived to find two men holding the suspect at the location. The suspect attempted to flee but slipped and fell. He was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for first-degree residential robbery where he is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. Jones is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon for an arraignment hearing.
