San Bernardino Man Arrested for Gary’s Liquor Store Murder

SAN BERNARDINO, Ca. – A San Bernardino man was arrested for the shooting murder of another San Bernardino man.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Gary’s Liquor Store located at 3133 North Golden Avenue in the City of San Bernardino at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived they found the victim, Bruce Tardy, 41, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to St, Bernardine’s Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. Homicide Detectives responded to assume the investigation. It was learned that Tardy and a woman were walking toward the Liquor Store when the suspect approached them in a vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Alberto Campos, 36, and Tardy were involved in a verbal dispute, before Tardy and the woman again began walking to the store. Campos parked across the street from the store and shot toward Tardy, who was in front of the store. Campos who was in a stolen Chevrolet SUV fled the location.

Homicide Detectives and Investigators with the Specialized Enforcement Detail (SED) began searching for Campos. On March 20, 2020, Campos was located in Bakersfield and arrested without incident. Campos was transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters and after an interview with Homicide Detectives, Campos was booked at Central Detention Center for murder and is being held on 1,000,000 bail.
