SAN MARCOS, Calif. – An investigation led to the arrest of a freelance photographer who allegedly possessed child pornography, and sent sexual communications to preteens and teens through social media.
Zachary Warburg was arrested on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, when detectives compiled enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant. Warburg was arrested for communicating with a minor with intent to commit sex crimes or other felonies, possession of child pornography, and sending harmful matter to a minor with intent of sexual gratification.
The investigation began when a teen victim told San Marcos High School staff that Warburg was attempting inappropriate sexual communications. Several other suspicious, lewd and suspected criminal behavior was uncovered between Warburg and several other minors from local high school and junior high schools.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations assumed the investigation in June 2018. A pattern of the criminal behavior was established and identification of numerous under-aged femals who he made contact with in person or on social media. Warburg solicited illegal sex acts or solicit/send illegal sexually explicit images. Warburg was also confirmed to possess child pornography,
Warburg was booked on a complaint warrant, which included several counts of the following charges alleged against numerous victims: Child Molestation, Possession of Child Pornography, Contacting a Minor to Commit a Family, Sending Harmful Matter in Attempt to Seduce Minor, Lewd and Lascivious Acts with minor, Intimidating a Witness/Victim, PC, and Contacting a Minor to Commit a Felony.
Sheriff’s detectives have interviewed numerous victims; however, there may be others who have not been contacted.
