VICTORVILLE – One man was airlifted and a second was transported by private vehicle after being shot on Saturday while at the Smoke Wagon Saloon in the City of Victorville.
At around 12:36 a.m. deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to 13070 Palmdale Road. The reporting party told Sheriff’s dispatchers that the incident occurred at the bar during a Hip Hop event where over 50 people attended.
When deputies arrived they located one man with gunshot wounds to his left shoulder and arm. Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after and determined that the patient would need to be airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for the treatment of his injuries. Deputies set up a perimeter so that all attendees could be identified and questioned prior to leaving. According to deputies at the scene, approximately ten vehicles left the bar prior to their arrival and several others had firearms in their possession following the incident.
A witness told deputies that four subjects were involved in the shooting. Although the majority of the witnesses had no suspect or suspect vehicle description, a description of a clean-shaven, heavyset, black man was reported. The suspect was reported to have shot with an uzi-style handgun with an extended magazine.
An Early investigation into the shooting revealed that the incident may have been gang-related, as the victim had openly confirmed gang affiliation. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Victorville Sheriff’s Station at 760-241-2911.
