PHELAN – A traffic collision on Phelan Road near Wilson Ranch took the lives of two young Phelan men and injured four others Friday night. At around 11:10 p.m. the California Highway Patrol and emergency medical personnel responded to the three vehicle traffic collision.
The two killed in the collision have been identified as 19-year-old Kase Chip and 22-year-old Anthony Soto, who were both declared dead at the scene shortly before 11:50 p.m. Three air ambulance transported three immediate patients to Loma Linda University and Arrowhead Regional Medical Centers. A fourth patient was transported to Desert Valley Hospital for the treatment of minor to moderate injuries.
Extrication was required for the two deceased individuals. Phelan Road was closed from Buttmere Road. to Johnson Road for several hours throughout the investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the CHP.
Friends of both of the young men have set up a Go Fund Me account to help raise funds for their memorial services and any other expenses that may arise as a result of their unexpected deaths. Kase Chip’s Go Fund Me Account, in addition to Memorial Service expenses, is also raising funds to assist his young daughter and her mother, who was badly injured in the collision. Anthony Soto’s Go Fund Me account is being used to assist his parents with memorial and burial expenses.
