The Kern County Sheriff’s office is investigating five shooting incidents over the weekend that left seven people injured.
On Friday, April 19, 2019, at around 7:54 p.m. a person was shot in the 2200 block of South Chester Avenue after a fight in the parking lot of a marijuana shop. When the victim was leaving the shop in his vehicle, a vehicle pulled up next to him and shot into the car. He was rushed to the hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to fully recover.
Just hours later on Friday at around 10:48 p.m. deputies responded to a hospital when hospital staff notified them that there were two victims with gunshot wounds. Through investigation they learned that a third victim suffered from graze wounds. The victims told authorities that they were on Mt Vernon, south of Niles Street, when the vehicle pulled up to their vehicle and began shooting. Both of the victims hospitalized have moderate injuries.
On Sunday April 21, 2019, there were three more shootings. At 4:09 p.m., sheriff’s dispatchers received a report that a gunshot wound victim was in the 2000 block of Larcus Avenue. Police and emergency personnel responded and took the adult male victim to the hospital. At around 6:09 p.m., deputies responded to the hospital when they reported that they were treating a gunshot wound victim. The victim reported that the shooting occurred at Sebastian Road and Wheeler Ridge. On 7:10 p.m., deputies ee called to the area of Washington Street and Virginia Avenue for the report of a male shooting victim. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect has been identified as Moses Trejo, 22. Trejo is still at large at this time.
