ADELANTO – A 36-year-old man was arrested after making sexual comments and threatening young girls in an Adelanto apartment complex on Sunday afternoon.

At around 4:40 p.m. a Victor Valley Station deputy was dispatched to a suspicious circumstances report at an apartment complex in the 11200 block of Lee Avenue in the City of Adelanto. Through investigation, deputies learned that Wendell Pellum, a registered sex offender, jumped the fence to the pool where kids were playing. While there he made sexually explicit comments and threats to several juvenile females between the ages of 8-14-years-old. He grabbed one of the children by the arm, pulling her toward him. He threatened to harm the children and their families if they told. Pellum then fled the area on foot.

Deputies arrived at the location and located Pellum. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for annoying and molesting children and violation of parole. Pellum has been previously convicted of sexual penetration with a foreign object by force or fear and sexual battery. He is being held without bail. He is scheduled at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
