BARSTOW – A 51-year-old Riverside man died after a collision with a desert racing truck on Saturday afternoon. At around 3:17 p.m. the California Highway Patrol and emergency medical responded to the report of a collision in the Stoddard Wells Off-Highway Vehicle area.
When they arrived, they learned that the collision occurred as the desert racing truck was riding along the dry wash in a designated off-highway vehicle area just south of Barstow. At the same time, Aaron Keith Wilder was riding his motorcycle on Stoddard Wells Road approximately one mile west of Barstow Road. The two vehicles collided, throwing Wildler from the motorcycle. The driver of the truck fled the scene but was located and taken into custody.
Medics arrived, but they determined that Wilder died as a result of his injuries at 3:38 p.mm. The incident remains under California Highway Patrol investigation.
