HESPERIA – A major traffic collision that took the life of one and caused major injuries to a second person caused Highway 395 to be shut down in both directions Sunday night.
At around 9:40 p.m. dispatchers received a report of the major damage traffic collision on Highway 395 between Main Street and Three Flags Court in the City of Hesperia. The reporting party indicated that a silver Honda Accord and a silver Chevrolet Cruze had collided head-on and at both drivers were unconscious. Medical personnel responded to the scene and determined that the male driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and the male driver of the Chevrolet was trapped in the vehicle. A third vehicle was also reportedly involved but was gone on arrival.
The injured driver was extricated from the vehicle and was transported by ground ambulance to Three Flags Court and Poplar Street in preparation for airlift to Loma Linda University Medical Clinic. Highway 395 between Main and Poplar streets are expected to remain closed until around 9:00 a.m. so that the incident can be investigated and the coroner could arrive.
