Stolen Fontana Vehicle Located in Barstow

BARSTOW – Investigation into a stolen vehicle led Sheriff’s deputies from the Barstow Station to the 2500 block of Benjoal Street in the county area of Barstow on Thursday night. Deputies conducted surveillance on a vehicle parked at the location that was reported stolen vehicle out of the City of Fontana.

While surveilling the vehicle, a man, later identified as 37-year-old Colton resident, Pete Perez and an unidentified 25 to 27-year-old Hispanic woman got into the vehicle. Deputies quickly approached the two and were able to detain Perez, who was sitting in the vehicle’s driver’s seat. The woman fled on foot, running through residential neighborhoods. Although deputies conducted an area check, speaking with local residents, the woman remains at large.

The vehicle was recovered, processed for latent fingerprints, and is being stored at a local tow yard.
