MORENO VALLEY – A 56-year-old Moreno Valley area transient was arrested for attempted murder of a peace officer and criminal threats Saturday afternoon. At around 12:45 p.m., officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a disturbance outside a restaurant in the 24000 block of Sunnymead Boulevard.
Authorities said that the subject identified in the call was known to carry a knife and refused to leave the location. He went on to threaten to kill restaurant employees and any responding officers. When responding officers approached the suspect, identified as Jimmie Lynn Holcomb he attempted to assault the officers with a knife.
After failed negotiations to disarm the suspect, officers deployed less-lethal means to control the suspect causing him to drop the knife. Holocomb was taken into custody and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility and is being held on $1 million bail.
