Suspect Involved in Hit and Run Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Collision Behind Bars

VICTORVILLE – A 60-year-old woman is recovering today after being hit by a vehicle and left lying in the roadway unresponsive on Sunday night. At around 8:35 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to Hesperia Road near Bear Valley road for a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. When deputies and emergency personnel arrived they located the woman and were told by witnesses that the driver of a 2000 Toyota Corolla fled the scene of the collision.

Witnesses also said that the collision occurred as the suspect vehicle was driving south on Hesperia Road near Bear Valley Road when the victim was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk area. After hitting the woman, the suspect continued driving southbound. The woman was airlifted to the hospital with head injuries and a fracture to her leg. She is currently listed in stable condition. 

Through investigation, including witness information deputies were able to locate the suspect and the Toyota that he was driving at the apartment complex located at 17486 Sequoia Avenue in the City of Hesperia. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Kenyon Jaidonni Buchanan was interviewed and subsequently arrested for felony hit and run and driving under the influence resulting in injury.

Jaidonni was booked into the High Desert Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Jaidonni is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
