VICTORVILLE – A teen sustained major head injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday, June 9, 2018.
At around 12:08 p.m. deputies from the Victorville Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the report of the vehicle versus pedestrian collision near Palmdale and Delgado Roads in the City of Victorville. Through investigation it was learned that the white Toyota Scion was driving east on Palmdale Road in the #2 lane of traffic. A group of pedestrians walked on the eastbound shoulder, when for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of the Toyota veered to the right shoulder striking the 17-year-old boy.
The teen suffered major head trauma as a result of the collision and was transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The driver of the Toyota cooperated with the investigation. The Major Accident Investigation team is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Palmdale Road was closed in both directions until 5:42 p.m.
Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy A. Ramos or Deputy C. Dekeyrel at the Victorville Police Station.
