ONTARIO – A 16-year-old Ontario boy was arrested on Saturday afternoon after posting a video on Snapchat showing himself throwing a small cat forcefully into the street.
The body of the small cat slammed onto the street with the cat screaming out in pain. The incident was shared on social media on Friday with the community outraged and reporting the incident to local police departments and school districts. The City of Ontario police were notified on Saturday morning.
Through investigation, they were able to identify the suspect and he was located on foot at around 1:45 p.m. the same afternoon. The suspect ran when he saw officers approaching, but was tackled and taken into custody. He was arrested and booked into juvenile hall for felony animal abuse.
The cat suffered from a broken arm, as well as internal injuries but is expected to survive. Anyone with information should contact Detective Gary Naranjo at 909-395-2764.
