BAKERSFIELD, Ca. – Two Los Angeles men were arrested for operating an illegal mobile recycling business, with much of the copper wire being stolen, authorities said.
On Friday, September 13, 2019, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the Rural Crime Investigation Unit and the Taft Substation stopped a vehicle near Highway 166 and Short Road. The deputies made contact with the driver, Daniel Bravo Avendano, 53, and Francisco Gomez, 68, both of Los Angeles.
Rural Crime Investigation Unit detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and inside they found around 2000 pounds of copper wire and other metals. The two suspects were found to be operating the illegal operation in Taft, Maricopa, and Cucyama areas. Both suspects were arrested for receiving stolen metals and Gomez was also arrested for a felony warrant.
