BAKERSFIELD, Ca. – An inmate at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility in Bakersfield was stabbed with an unknown weapon, officials said.
On September 14, 2019, just before 10:00 p.m. deputies from the detention facility located at 17695 Industrial Farm Road responded to the report of a stabbing. When they arrived they found one man suffering from puncture wounds. His injuries were considered moderate and he remains in stable condition. Deputies reviewed surveillance footage and identified three inmates who were involved. No weapon was located or recovered and the attack was believed to be gang-related.
Authorities said that Juan Valenzuela, 20, Juan Santiago, 19, and Irvin Chavez, 26, will all be charged with attempted murder with a gang enhancement.
