BARSTOW – Two men were arrested following a strong arm robbery at a Barstow Stater Bros. Market on Monday afternoon.
Travis Linwood Early, 26, and Eric Dwight Clark, 25, both of Barstow went into the store on the 900 block of Armory Road and attempted to steal alcohol and soda by concealing it under their clothing. The two attempted to leave the store, but an employee made contact with them and asked them to pay for the items or return them to the store. Early got upset and punched an employee in the face and went toward the exit. Another employee attempted to also stop him, but he also punched that employee in the face, leaving a laceration to the left side of his forehead. He continued to leave the store, but employees and customers restrained him until the police arrived. Eric Clark unsuccessfully attempted to free Early from the crowd.
Officers arrived and saw Early being restrained by the employees and customers. He was still fighting, as they continued to keep him down on the ground. Early was handcuffed by the responding officers, who were able to put him in the patrol vehicle. Two males began leaving the scene and a store employee pointed them out. Both males were stopped by the officers and were questioned. Clark was determined to be involved, while the other male was released at the scene.
Both Early and Clark were arrested for robbery and were booked into the Barstow Jail. The store employee received medical aid at the scene for minor facial injuries. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the Barstow Police Department at (760) 256-2211.
