BIG BEAR – A Beaumont and Victorville man were arrested on Sunday morning following a probation check in Big Bear Lake.
At around 8:43 a.m. deputies from the Big Bear Station arrived at the hotel in the 100 block of Lagunita to conduct a probation check on Dennis Carbajal, 39, of Beaumont, who was out on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). When they arrived, Carbajal attempted to run out the back but was immediately apprehended. Brian Dimmick, 39, of Victorville, and Jonnie Stivers were also in the room with Carbajal.
The room was searched and several items consistent with identity theft including several California Driver’s Licenses, Social Security cards, bank statements, altered checks, and credit applications. Victims were from Fontana, Beaumont and Big Bear, but authorities believe additional victims may exist. Inside the vehicle belonging to Carbajal, drug paraphernalia, stolen mail from several residents in the Big Bear Valley. Also found in the vehicle was electronic equipment that is commonly used in the commission of identity theft crimes.
Carbajal and Dimmick were booked into jail for felony possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime and making fictitious checks. Carbajal was also booked on an additional felony fraud charge. Both suspects were bailed out, Dimmick on April 25, 2018, and Carbajal on April 27, 2018. There are no court dates set at this time.
