A motorist attempting to bypass traffic discovered a deceased person near the area of Highway 138 and the 15 freeway on Wednesday.

Authorities said that at around 4:25 p.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were investigating a traffic collision on Highway 138, 1.3 miles east of the 15 freeway. As a result of the investigation, Highway 138 was closed causing a motorist to travel along a utility road off of highway 138 in order to bypass the closure. While driving, the motorist saw the deceased person on the utility road. The driver returned to the highway to report the finding to the CHP officers.

Homicide detectives arrived at the scene to investigate the death of the victim, who is not yet identified. An autopsy will be conducted in order to determine the person’s identity, cause of death and manner of death.
