VICTORVILLE – The thirst for crime landed a young man and a male juvenile from Victorville behind bars Sunday night. At around 9:36 p.m. the pair entered the Valero Gas station located at 15603 7th Street in the City of Victorville. Each grabbed a soda and exited the store without paying.

“When a clerk confronted the men about paying for the sodas, one man pulled a handgun from his waistband,” said Victorville Sheriff’s station spokeswoman, Mara Rodriguez. “The clerk feared for his safety and backed away.” The two men fled the scene on foot southbound from the gas station.

At around 12:15 Deputy Reyes witnessed two men with the same description as the suspects on the 16900 block of B Street in Victorville. Deputy Reyes and a second deputy made contact with the men and searched their backpack, which contained a loaded handgun. “The two were positively ID’d as the suspects from the robbery,” added Rodriguez.

The two, 18-year-old, Randy Thompson and a 16-year-old male were arrested and booked into jail for the robbery. Thompson was taken to the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $100,000. He is scheduled for an arraignment hearing at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon.
