RIVERSIDE – A man and woman from Garden Grove sustained major injuries leaving them critically injured Thursday evening. At around 5:45 p.m. the Riverside Police, Riverside Fire, and paramedics responded to a two vehicle traffic collision on Van Buren Boulevard and Wood Road in the City of Riverside.
When they arrived minutes later, they located a badly damaged 2007 Chevy Malibu and a 1996 Lexus LX450 SUV. The Malibu was occupied by a Garden Grove husband, wife, and their 4-year-old child. The man and woman were seriously injured and were transported to Riverside County Medical Center. Their child was in the backseat and sustained no injuries as a result of the collision. The Lexus was occupied by a female driver, two male passengers, and an 18-month-old child. All complained of pain but refused treatment at the scene. The child was not injured.
Through investigation, it was learned that the Chevy pulled from the stop sign at westbound Silo Street in an attempt to turn left onto Wood Road, in the path of the northbound traveling Lexus. The Lexus was unable to stop and slammed into the driver’s side of the Malibu.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and is currently investigating the collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is urged to call Riverside Police Traffic Detective G. Matthews at (951) 826-8724.
