VICTORVILLE, Ca. – Within just one hour two deputy involved shootings occurred in the City of Victorville on Wednesday morning.
At 8:26 a.m., deputies were called to the 13100 block of Cabazon Court in the City of Victorville for a domestic disturbance. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said that a distraught woman called screaming, “Oh my God, oh my God, send the police, I need my son removed from my home.”
The female deputy, now identified as Deputy Sheriff Meagan Forsberg arrived and was physically assaulted by the 21-year-old suspect, Ari Young. During the assault the suspect repeatedly punching her in the head and face, then grabbed for the deputy’s service weapon, while struggling shots were fired. He eventually gained possession of it and shot toward the deputy several times as she ran away to find cover.
Several patrol vehicles arrived just seconds later and the suspect appeared to surrender with his hands up in the video captured by a nearby resident. Shots were heard in the video while his hands appeared to be up.
Sheriff’s officials explained in a news release that Young was still armed with the deputy’s weapon when deputies arrived and ignored their commands to drop the weapon. The deputies then shot at Young causing non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he will be treated and subsequently be booked into jail.
The deputy was not hit by the rounds fired at her but did suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assault.
At 9:25 a.m. a deputy responded to the 15800 block of Heatherdale Road after a caller requested deputy assistance for an unknown problem. The suspect was shot at some point during the incident and was transported to the hospital.
