HESPERIA – The cause of the collision that killed an adult male in a wheelchair remains under investigation on Monday morning.
On Sunday, November 11, 2018, at around 9:14 p.m., deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to a call reporting a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Bear Valley Road between I Avenue and Ridgecrest Road in the City of Hesperia. Sheriff’s officials said that the Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound on Bear Valley Road when the vehicle struck the pedestrian who was traveling eastbound in the #2 lane. The impact threw the man from his wheelchair causing fatal injuries. The driver of the Toyota immediately stopped and remained on-scene until deputies arrived. Bear Valley Road was closed in both directions from I Avenue to Ridgecrest Road until approximately 3:15 am, while investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.
The female passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. The name of the deceased man has not yet been released. Information will be updated when it is received.
