VICTORVILLE – After realizing that the families needed more resources in one place, Victor Elementary School District opened up a Family Resource Center. District officials said that parents expressed the need, so in order to partner with families in supporting the children to meet their full potentials.
Dr. Gabriel Luis Stine, President of the VESD Board of Trustees, said, “After listening to our stakeholders, specifically our parents, the Family Resource Center was created. It is a phenomenal opportunity for us to partner with our families to help our students be successful. The initial response exceeded our expectations.”
The Family Resource Center will provide public and mental health, dental, vision, flu shots and immunizations, officials said. Numerous valuable classes will be available to parents including ESL 1 & 2, Standards for Parents, Primary and Intermediate Math, Nutrition classes, Parenting classes such as Conflict Resolution, Love and Logic and Parent Project.
“I’m excited because parents and families have a place where they’ll have access to all types of information and resources, said the Family Resource Center supervisor, Jorge Escalante. “A place where they can meet other parents and support each other.”
The VESD Family Resource Center is located at 15115 Nisqualli Road is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more details, please call 760-493-1800.
