VICTORVILLE – A Victorville man and woman were arrested for the abuse of two small children authorities said.
On Sunday, June 17, 2018, a 3-year-old boy was taken to Victor Valley Global Medical Center. While been seen by hospital staff, it was determined that the injuries were suspicious in nature. The hospital staff contacted the Victorville Sheriff’s Station, who sent detectives to the hospital to assist in an investigation. The small boy was transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further examination and treatment.
Evander Lewis, 28, and Miracle Britt, 23, were identified by investigators as the possible suspects. The two were contacted on June 18, 2018, during which time the investigators learned that there was also a 6-year-old female child living in the home. The 6-year-old child was also examined and both children were placed in protective custody by Children and Family Services (CFS). After the interview with Lewis and Britt moved out of their home and were unable to be located.
Forensic pediatricians were able to determine that both of the children sustained multiple injuries, both old and new. On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, arrest warrants were secured for both Lewis and Britt, which were located the following day in a Victorville motel. Both were arrested without incident, Evander Lewis was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Child Cruelty and Oral Copulation and is being held in lieu of $600,000 bail. Miracle Britt was booked into jail for Child Cruelty and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
