VICTORVILLE – A deputy-involved collision on Wednesday evening caused only minor injuries officials said. At around 7:50 p.m. a Victorville Station deputy was transporting an arrestee to the High Desert Detention Center.
While on the way, there was a request for service at the Dollar Tree Store located in the 11900 block of Amargosa Road. The security officer at the store was pepper sprayed by a shoplifting suspect. Since the deputy was in the immediate area, already heading south on Amargosa Road she activated her emergency lights planning to aid the security guard until additional deputies could arrive.
A second vehicle was exiting the mall parking lot on a green light and the deputy collided with the vehicle. The force caused the vehicle to spin out and to hit another vehicle. The deputy vehicle continued in a southeast direction, crashing through a fence and resting in a drainage culvert. Neither the deputy or arrestee, were injured. The occupants in the other vehicles only suffered minor injuries that did not require medical transport to the hospital.
