VICTORVILLE – A business owners at the Victorville Galleria (Victorville Indoor Swap Meet) was attacked and stabbed on Sunday evening authorities said.
At around 5:42 p.m. deputies and medical personnel responded to 14560 Palmdale Road in the City of Victorville for an unknown problem at Victorville Galleria – Indoor Swap Meet. The called indicated someone had assaulted the clerk, identified as Chong Suk Hong, 62, of Victorville. The assailant, later identified as Tom Raymond, 29, of Norwalk was detained by security while deputies arrived at the scene.
Hong was located suffering from violent injuries including stab wounds, she was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by 6:32 p.m. Raymond was transported to the Victorville Sheriff’s Station and subsequently booked into the High Desert Detention for Murder.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Detail responded to the scene to assume the investigation and detectives learned that Raymond walked into Hong’s business, Xtreme Menswear where he robbed and assaulted her. He stabbed her repeatedly then attempted to flee the scene. Authorities said that there is no evidence that Raymond knew Hong or had even visited her business in the past.
