RIVERSIDE – A Riverside area transient was arrested after breaking into a home, stealing items, and on the way out killing the dog who was in the backyard of the home.
At around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017, officers responded to the 10300 block of Wagner Way regarding a vehicle burglary in progress. When police arrived they found several victims surrounding the suspect as he attempted to steal their car. The suspect struggled as the police took him into custody.
Through investigation, authorities learned that the suspect kicked open the back door of the home, and stole items. After stealing their property, he killed their dog with a machete and then attempted to steal their vehicle. Animal control responded and took possession of the deceased dog.
The suspect, later identified as Armando Medina was booked into jail for residential burglary, attempted auto theft, cruelty to an animal, resisting arrest using violence, and parole violations.
