VICTORVILLE – A Victorville transient was arrested twice in a single day for obstructing an officer on Monday officials said.
Marcus Dewitt, 28, was arrested after deputies from the Victorville Station responded to a call reporting a break-in at a business located in the 17100 block of D Street. When deputies responded to the location at around 11:08 p.m. they learned that Dewitt had attempted to break into the business, but after confronted by the business owner he fled on foot.
Deputies located Dewitt walking near the business and attempted to detain him, but he refused to follow any commands and attempted to hit the deputy. The deputy deployed his taser and was able to gain custody of Dewitt.
Through a record check, Dewitt was found to be on probation for a similar incident in Riverside County. He also had been arrested and cited for a misdemeanor, early Monday morning in Phelan for obstructing an officer and trespassing. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for resisting an executive officer. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday afternoon.
