ADELANTO, Ca. – A Victorville man is recovering after being shot in a deputy-involved shooting on Tuesday night.
At around 11:12 p.m. a deputy from the Adelanto Station responded to the 12000 block of White Avenue for a disturbance. The first deputy arrived and made contact with the reporting party before attempting to make contact with 35-year-old Steffon Barber. Adelanto Sheriff’s officials said in a news release that Barber became uncooperative and got into a vehicle and accelerated in reverse in the path of the deputy. The deputy, in fear for his life, shot toward Barber.
Barber was injured and transported to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. He is expected to recover. Detectives responded to the scene in order to conduct the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.
