VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A 40-year-old Victorville man was shot and killed at the Casa Bella Apartments on Friday evening, authorities said.
At around 6:30 p.m. deputies responded to calls reporting a shooting at the Casa Bella Apartments, located on Nisqualli Road in the City of Victorville. When deputies and medical arrived, they found a male, later identified as Thurman Mathew unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Mathew was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was learned that Parnell Gutter, 28, of Victorville, and Mathew were involved in an argument, which led to a physical altercation. Gutter went back to his apartment after the fight but Mathew went to his apartment and began shooting. Gutter returned fire, striking Mathew.
The information will be submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review.
