VICTORVILLE – A Victorville man shot and killed himself as deputies from the Victorville station attempted to make contact with him as a result of a domestic dispute report.
On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at around 12:30 p.m. deputies responded to the home in the 15600 block of Fresno Court. A reporting party had called to report that Arnulfo Padilla, 51, was upset and was breaking things inside the home. Deputies arrived a short time later and made contact with Padilla at the front door of the home. “As deputies talked with Padilla they attempted to get him to drop the gun, he instead stepped further into the house and out of their sight, shortly after deputies heard a single gunshot,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. Authorities did not know if anyone else was inside the home with Padilla.
Deputies entered the home and located Padilla on the floor of the home with a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found to be dead at the scene. They learned that no one else was in the home at the time of the shooting and no other injuries were reported.
