BARSTOW – A Barstow man entered a plea agreement and was sentenced for the burglary of a nonprofit business.
On Monday, July 23, 2018, Kolton Waller, 23, pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of the 2nd-Degree Burglary the Entrepreneur Center (EC Barstow). On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, Barstow Police received the report that the location had been burglarized on Sunday, July 8, 2018. When officers arrived to the location in the 1000 block of West Main Street at around 6:00 p.m. they were provided with surveillance footage of the burglary that took place on July 8, 2018, at around 9:00 a.m. and again by the same suspect at 7:00 p.m. that evening. In the surveillance, the suspect could be seen entering the location through the unsecured front door and stealing several items from inside and exiting through the front door.
On Thursday, July 12, 2018, just before noon, a detective was searching an area in the 1300 block of Santa Fe Drive, not far from the business location when he spotted Waller who matched the suspect description. Waller was also wearing the same clothing that he was seen wearing in the surveillance footage. Waller was cooperative with the investigation and led the detective to the stolen property. The property was returned to the victim and Waller was booked into jail for Burglary.
Waller was sentenced to 3 years of Summary Probation, and 120 days of county jail (which he will be required to serve 50% of). Waller was also credited for a total of 20 days for time served and conduct credit. Waller is eligible to serve the remaining 50 days in a Work Release Program.
