BARSTOW, Ca. – A rocket crash killed 64-year-old daredevil “Mad” Mike Hughes during an event in Barstow on Saturday afternoon.
At around 1:52 p.m. deputies were called to a private-property event near highway 247 in Barstow. When deputies arrived at the rocket launch event, the rocket crashed in the open desert area. A man was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel who was staged in the area for any accidents during the event.
Sheriff’s Aviation and Specialized Investigators have responded to conduct the investigation.
The Coroner has not released the name, but TMZ has identified the decedant as Hughes. .No other information is available for release at this time.
Hughes is well-known by his followers the be a flat-earth conspiracy theorist known for flying self-built rockets, he also worked as a limo driver.
